Welcome to Parkview
by Brian Paone
by Brian Paone
Welcome To Parkview reads the rusted sign along the outskirts of town. The tarnishing letters seem inviting, yet foreboding and mysterious. Is passing through such a wise idea?
The final destination may be more dangerous than the trip itself—an unapologetic journey through a town that thrives on sex, violence, and the macabre. A place built on deceit and temptation. A spot forever cursed with soulless transients, unforgiving lovers, and merciless vampires who hide in the shadows beyond.
The facade is peeled back just enough for you to see past its surface. There’s but a glimpse of the darkness that put Parkview on the map. Then you realize that nothing here is a coincidence. In Parkview, it may be best to keep buried secrets quiet.
In Parkview, even truth can be a deception.

Love Moments Don't Rust with Age
by Albert M Jabara
by Albert M Jabara
Literature, specifically poetry, is a bridge between what we know and the abstract side of our life. The original layer is the fiction mixed with what we know and what we could know. The abstract exists everywhere on the Earth and in the galaxy and the beyond. The abstract is my favorite sanctuary. The challenge is complicated and severe.
Sanctuary is the place where I find virgin ideas and thoughts wearing tens, sometimes hundreds of skins. I peel the skins to reach the pearl. Writing requires time to form, like diamond stones. Some prefer to pick row words and dye them.
In this little book, I decided to spice my poems. I placed myself at the beginning of the book and branched out characters, some I created; others inspired me and energized my creative ability.
The story and all it entails is simple. It tries to define love in an entirely different perspective on the understanding that prevails today. I needed a protagonist to fit the story; one of a story never been told; a guru in faith, religious philosopher and a rare poet. The age difference between him and a—girl―had to be coast to coast in time.

My Lonely Room
by John Vikara
by John Vikara
Life wasn't so great when you didn't have much of a relationship with your parents or the ability to play street games while growing up in the fifties. You would rather be secluded in your lonely room, using your imagination to write stories and draw comic books than to be drowned in negativity by your mother or humiliated by your peers. All of this can change for Jimmy Yadenik when he meets Johnny, his soon to be mentor and member of the Vandals, a street gang, and he applies for membership. But the transition won't be easy.
