Orphan's Fortune

The short fiction story "Orphans Fortune" is all about the vulnerability that an orphan hold, his/her struggle to get a treasure to be a good fortune, and the feeling he /she might get over the good fortune. Julie, an orphan, is the story's protagonist, who lives in a foster home and feels her life is no more but a graveyard where all her wishes and emotions are to be buried. For seven years, Julie had been in foster homes after the death of her parents. Now, she lives in a foster home headed by Mrs. Carson – a very scary and cranky lady, who thinks of Julie as a weird thing. For the time, Julie imagines her parents as if they are alive and they live all together and her shedding tears speak of all the pain she feels in her heart. One day while digging the carrots from the garden she finds a glass bottle with a piece of paper inside it. Julie comes up with that glass bottle and pulls the paper out of the bottle. It is not just a piece of paper but a clue of treasure, written by a fellow orphan, for Julie to get away from this foster home. She buries it back in the garden where she grabbed it as pointed in the paper. This note becomes a hope for Julie to get a better life. From now she starts to solve the clue to get the next one and finally get her goal of getting a better life to be achieved.
