First Love

Editors review: This book First Love is one of the best non-fiction books I have read in a long time as an editor. The author is endowed with a strong creative and expressive writing style. The author’s ability to capture the emotional depth of her most fragile moments and the tenderness of God and His caring ways left me encouraged and enlightened, and I consider this is an absolute skill. Each chapter carefully and concisely brought me into the author’s perspective while allowing for a great level of introspection and enlightenment. I am encouraged by the revelation that comes through her and in awe of the wonder God has created her to be. Readers will get a firsthand account of what it looks like to be heartbroken severally by the world’s notion of love, which is void of lasting comfort and filled with an idolised familiarity of pain, hurt, and rejection. The author sheds light on the very problematic approach to love that most churches have adapted in a way that casts judgement and labels the individual. This memoir captured so much hurt the author faced until she found the one true love “God” and she did so in a way that is inspiring, impactful, and honest. The author’s courage in telling the full truth, regardless of the light it cast her in is what sets this book apart. She did not create villains in her story but instead allowed us to see the importance of accepting God’s love and the positive impact it has created in her life. Grab a tissue, get comfy and ensure that you set aside time because you will not want to put this book down until you’re done.
