What’s it about? It’s a book for women warriors. Those who refuse to give up on getting clean, sober, abstinent, and free.
This is not a regurgitated recovery book. First, it’s funny. Second, it’s one-of-a-kind. Third, it’s not a self-help book. It’s an operator’s manual for alcoholics, Al-Anon, drug addicts, codependents, overeaters, and whoever else has an addictive personality with a smidge of OCD or a dusting of ADHD.
With an iron fist in a velvet glove, Butterflies and Paratroopers is written with wit and sarcasm, Milo lays out the clear-cut simple directions to operate the most complex, out-of-warranty, prone to breakdown piece of equipment ever made—that’s you. “We used to think one way, and now we think another.”
Using amusing “girl snippets” and “recovery war stories”, Milo connects real life trials, tribulations, pandemonium and predicaments with spirituality, sobriety, sanity, and serenity. You’ll quickly see that twelve-step recovery programs will take anyone who walks through the door, and have a wrench to fit any nut that does.
With humor and encouragement Milo describes a program of action, design for living, and process of recovery that seems to work with people like us. And who are people like us? We are the ones who have tried everything else.
