Standing In The Shadows

The discovery of a brutally murdered young woman has shocked a peaceful island community.

Tom Nowak, photographer for the Jersey Evening Post, had been eagerly awaiting his best friend’s visit from the mainland, until accidentally capturing a series of ghostly silhouettes in his pictures.

With few leads, and the impending trial of the island’s most notorious criminal, the local police force seems powerless to help.

Are these ethereal shadows a way to identify and apprehend the murderer, or will Tom’s obsession in seeking justice cost him more than his career?

Unchanging Points of Light

Prior to the emergence of navigational technology, the captain of a ship relied on unchanging points of light in the nights sky to navigate his vessel in the darkness. These celestial objects were so well known and behaved so precisely that you could trust your life, your vessel, and all of it’s valuable contents to their guidance. You still can, if you understand them well enough.

Over the last 200-300 years our world has abandoned the idea that there are eternal, reliable, and absolute principles or reference points from which human beings can gain the power and the confidence to navigate through a very dark world. In essence, we are lost. It seems that we have also lost our ability to observe, critically think, and apply the laws of logic to what we see. Our lostness and the resulting error is increasing at a faster and faster rate as the pace of change in our modern world is exceeding human capacity to adapt.

Besides being lost, we are just plain confused about how we got here.

My hope in this book is to offer you the opportunity to take a new and perhaps unique look at the foundational concepts of truth, life, love, identity, sexuality, money, power, brokenness, belief, and light. Further, I hope that you consider what role they play in your life individually and in our culture collectively. If you are willing to experience the tension of staying in these questions, perhaps you can decide whether you are to conform yourself and your views to these unchanging points of light, or whether they are to conform themselves to you and what is attractive to you.

In my view, all of us are just trying to find our way through our life on this planet. Maybe we should work harder on doing this together, regardless of how different each of us is. If together we are attempting to guide our modern day vessels by these unchanging points of light, then I believe that we have a chance.

Lost

"Lost: The Field Researchers Book 2 by A.E. Hellstorm is one of the best books in its genre I have read for some time. Whether you like crime, thrillers, or horror, Lost: The Field Researchers Book 2 is for you. It expertly combines several genres in an involved, intricate plot. There is so much to this book that any aspect could make a brilliant stand-alone novel, but the combination creates a tense, emotionally driven tale." - Reader's Favorite

Two years... Two years of trying to cope with the memory of the last monster he met, the one that gave him the scar on his neck, but, honestly, it’s just another one to his collection. FBI-agent Carl Hansen has seen too much of the dark, of things that shouldn’t exist, that nobody would believe.
Now, he only wishes for a peaceful life. For some time it seems that he might get that, but then everything happens all at once. The terrorist attack that takes everyone by surprise, the loss of his colleague, the serial killer case he gets appointed to, and his new, unpredictable boss who sees through him like he was made of glass – and this is before the real weird things happens.

Lost is the second book in the series about the Field Researchers; horror novels loosely based on the world created by H.P. Lovecraft.

Nowhere Else I Want To Be

Carol D. Marsh founded, directed, and lived at Miriam’s House, a Washington, DC, residence for homeless women living with AIDS. In this powerful memoir, Marsh recalls how she came to confront issues far removed from her own experience: addiction, poverty, and the institutional racism that permeates our society on every level. From the humorous to the tragic, the mundane to the sublime, Marsh offers a gripping view into a world where the stakes are high and love is pushed to its limit.

Nowhere Else I Want to Be is the story of the inspiring women who transformed Marsh’s life. From Kimberly, who triumphs over a lifelong alcohol addiction, to Alyssa, who dies reaching out for the mother who abandoned her, Marsh witnesses the spectrum of human experience and the depth of the human spirit.

Then Caroline’s brutal Creator Sebastian enslaves them on his secluded island estate. The honeymoon is over…

Oubliette - A Forgotten Little Place

Veronica knows the monsters aren't "just in her head", but no one listens to the headstrong ten-year-old as they tie her to a hospital bed every night.
Years later, after being dumped by her business-partner/boyfriend, Veronica finds herself on the verge of bankruptcy. Then a late-night call promises the perfect solution — a job opportunity decorating a castle in France. Will Veronica risk what little she has left to chase a fairy tale?
When the shadowy things that once terrorized her return, Veronica must decide how much she'll sacrifice for them, for her sanity, and for her life.
Oubliette — A Forgotten Little Place consists of interwoven stories with paranormal twists. An epic adventure, it spans nearly two millennia.
You'll be transported to an ancient Pagan ritual, Roman-ruled Gaul, the bloody Inquisition of the Knights Templar, France as it's ravaged by the Black Death, the duplicitous Reformation, the Paris Catacombs, and the gory French Revolution, while you unravel Oubliette’s cryptic layers.
Vanta M. Black was inspired to write Oubliette after learning about the real oubliette at Leap Castle, the famed most-haunted castle in Ireland. She traveled there, as well as to châteaux in France, and to the Paris Underground, for research.
Real paranormal accounts of elemental spirits, ghosts, sorcery and demons, plus actual historical events and legends, all feed into this masterfully-crafted narrative. Additionally, Black's own encounters with entities known as "shadow people", serve as the novel’s foundation.
Oubliette delivers blow after blow of mystery, horror, and suspense. This thriller seeps into your soul and doesn't let go. In the end, as you're begging for mercy, you'll also be begging for more.

Deja Vu (Dial M for Murder Book2)

When she was a little girl, Elena Davidson had to witness something no child should ever have to. On Christmas morning, she witnessed the murder of her parents from her hiding spot in their closet. The killer wore a ski mask, but he was eventually caught, and Elena would never forget the face of the man convicted—Jeff McCormick—because of the hideous scar running down his cheek and the bright orange hair that helped convict him. She would also never forget the coldness in his eyes, as he proclaimed his innocence on the witness stand, while being sentenced to sixty years imprisonment.
It's now twenty years later, and she's seen "the tall man" again—right before her house is broken into and a trinket of her mother's, missing since the day of her murder, is left behind—and right after similar grisly murders. This all brings about the questions—why is Jeff McCormick out of prison, and is he after her? Or was he telling the truth all along and he really is innocent, and the real killer is after her? Either way, someone is breaking into homes and murdering couples in the Greenville, MS area.
With the help of Detective Brooke Daniels, and hunk FBI Special Agent Shane Braun, maybe Elena's haunting past can finally be closed—before it kills her.

The Grand Gypsy

What do Adolf Hitler, Mahatma Gandhi, and Ed Sullivan have in common? Ottavio Canestrelli crossed paths with each. He performed with the Krone Circus in Italy and Germany from 1922 to 1924 on the eve of Hitler’s rise to power; he witnessed a rally for Mahatma Gandhi in India in 1931; and he appeared twice on the Ed Sullivan Show during the 1960s.

In The Grand Gypsy, Canestrelli, with his grandson, Ottavio Gesmundo, tells the story of a man who witnessed historical events as he toured with his family through five continents and countless nations, including experiences fighting in World War I and the excavation of the Sphinx in Egypt. It shares memories of life in the circus, filled with daring feats and tragic mishaps.

With over one hundred and seventy historical photographs included, this memoir chronicles a circus dynasty from the late nineteenth-century in Europe to the new millennium in the United States.
